History:

The Wapakoneta Summer Moon Festival attracts thousands to enjoy a week of activities celebrating Neil Armstrong and the town he grew up in. The festival spans the entire town with events at the Armstrong Air & Space Museum, throughout the Historic Downtown District, in City Parks and at the Performing Arts Center.

Highlights include a big music stage with live music, food trucks and a beer garden. There are fun contests such as the Wiener Dog Races, Fishing Derby, Pickle Ball and Corn Hole Tournaments, Canoe, Kayak and Bed Races plus a Vintage Car Show and Antique Tractor Show. The downtown streets also host a giant shopping experience called The Moon Market which features over 60 vendors..

The Armstrong Air & Space Museum provides extended hours for museum tours as well as hosts many special events including Astronaut appearances, space games, interactive activities, engaging attractions outside on the museum lawn and the Run to the Moon 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Fun Run which brings participants from far and wide to enjoy a race route through Wapakoneta.
