Martha’s Vineyard Soulfest: The Soul of Summer

MV Soulfest isn’t just any festival. It’s a movement, homecoming, celebration of soul in all its forms all rolled into one!

Founded by Stephen Anglin and David Van Allen, two cultural architects deeply rooted in the island’s fabric, MV Soulfest was born from decades of hosting unforgettable gatherings that honored Black excellence and community pride. Long before Soulfest had a name, it had a heartbeat — pulsing through backyard BBQs, beachside jam sessions, gallery nights, and rooftop cyphers.

In 2008, the pair launched Martha’s Vineyard Lifestyle, a collective committed to showcasing the island’s beauty through the lens of culture, creativity, and connection. Out of that vision came Martha’s Vineyard Soulfest and in 2022, with performances from Brand Nubian, Kid Capri, and the late legend DJ Mister Cee (RIP), a new tradition was born.

Since then, MV Soulfest has grown into a cultural force — a two-week festival where the island’s soul takes center stage. From live concerts and national DJs to comedy, spoken word, and intimate fireside conversations, MV Soulfest curates experiences that move people, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
