"Dream, Dare, Dazzle"

The Winter Carnival celebration includes a variety of events that embrace Steamboat's western heritage and highlight our tradition of winter sports.

This unique event includes everything from kids pulled on skis behind horses down a snow-covered main street, to the Lighted Man at the Night Show Extravaganza whose battery-powered suit weighs 70 pounds.

Schedule:
10:00am: Christy Sports Soda Pop Slalom

(Ages 11 and under)
This is a fun race on the magic carpet and is open to any skier or snowboarder ages 11 and under.  NEW THIS YEAR- BIG KID DUALS on the face from 11am-1pm! Two separate races, all can participate in the fun! Pre-registration is required for all ages online at wintercarnivalsteamboat.com by February 9, 2023.

4:30pm - 6:00pm: Nordic Jumping Exhibition
Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Nordic Combined and Special Jumping athletes jumping the Hill Size 20, 30, 45, 75 and 100.

5:00pm - 5:30pm: New this year! Ski Ballet
Wear your sequins and stretch pants! A throwback to the mid-70s and once an official Olympic sport, ski ballet in its purest form included routines choreographed to music consisting of flips, jumps, rolls, spins, and leg crossings. In this Winter Carnival competition, anything goes, but costumes are mandatory! All competitors must attend a pre-competition meeting at 4:30pm on February 10 to sign a waiver and receive a lift ticket by showing Winter Carnival Button. Join the fun as a competitor or spectator at Howelsen Hill. REGISTER HERE

Location: Howelsen Hill, Ponyland, the big magic carpet next to the nordic ski jumps

6:00pm - 7:00pm: Amateur Ski Jumping
Ski Jumping (on alpine equipment) under the lights on the historic ski jumps of Howelsen Hill. Prizes, jumping and high-flying fun. Register ($25) the night of the event from 5:00 - 5:45pm: in the Fireplace Room at Howelsen Hill Lodge. (Ages 15+)

6:00pm - 8:00pm: Johnsie Memorial Dual Slalom Bicycle Race
An exciting on-snow, mountain bike event. Most of the action takes place on the poma ride up to the top of the course, but this year the course will include more terrain and jumps to spice up the action. Come take a chance and ride the course or just spectate and watch the action.  Event includes practice, qualifying, and final competition rounds. Register the night of the event 5:00-5:30pm in the Fireplace Room at Howelsen Hill Lodge.
