When it’s Barbecue Time in the City of LaFayette!

The Honeybee Festival is a Full Day of Music, Food and Fun that’s Free to Attend!

So, what would the Honeybee Festival “BEE” without the Honeybee BBQ Competition?

This is a great opportunity for Professional and Beginner Barbecuers to bring their BBQ talents to town in an attempt to “Smoke” the competition. Competitors are also allowed to vend during the Honeybee Festival.

Each year, the Honeybee BBQ Competition takes place on the day of the Honeybee Festival, where thousands of Festival goers come out to enjoy the event. Competitors arrive on the Thursday or Friday evening prior to the Honeybee Festival, which is always held on the following Saturday, in preparation for the competition.

-Beauty Pageant

Miss Honeybee Beauty Pageant

Who will “BEE” crowned Miss Honeybee?

On Honeybee Eve, the Friday before the Honeybee Festival, we host the Miss Honeybee Beauty Pageant.

The Miss Honeybee Beauty Pageant began during the 2nd year of the Honeybee Festival and has grown into a successful event.

The Pageant is sponsored by the LaFayette High School Cheerleaders and money raised at the event supports the cheerleading program at the high school.

It’s an opportunity for young ladies to shine and “BEE” in the spotlight.

During the 3rd Annual Honeybee Festival, the pageant included the first ever Queen Bee Pageant for women 50-years and older.

Each of the Pageant winners will “BEE” introduced on the Main Stage at the Honeybee Festival the following day.

The Pageant has several groups from 0-16 years old. There is also a Queen Honeybee division for 50 years and over.

-Bicycle Ride

Leading up to the annual Honeybee Festival, Parks & Recreation hosts the annual Honeybee Metric-Century Bicycle Ride. This outdoor adventure brings together both professional cyclists and local community participants.

The Honeybee Metric-Century Bicycle Ride is another activity in conjunction with the Honeybee Festival and has several routes to choose from.

The Honeybee Metric-Century Bicycle Ride begins and ends at the LaFayette Recreation Department.

Participants will be able to ride through the hills and valleys of our small towns throughout the City of LaFayette and Walker County. This includes several scenic routes and all rides are fully supported.

-Cruise-In

Roll into the Honeybee Festival in style with the Honeybee Festival Cruise-In & Antique Tractor Show!

When you come to the Honeybee Festival, you will see a wide array of unique sportscars, truck, motorcycles and antique tractors.

The Cruise-In always brings onlookers to check out not only the body of the ride, but what’s under the hood!

You’ll see Cruise-In participants who take a lot of PRIDE in the presentation and detail of their “BEE”-loved vehicles.

The Honeybee Festival Cruise-In is a must see during the day of the Honeybee Festival.

-Education and Honeybee Awareness

The Honeybee Festival is a great opportunity to discover the important role Honeybees play in our natural world. Without the honeybees, life would not exist.

Honeybees are the world’s largest pollinators of food crops and are vital to our food supply.

When you visit the Honeybee Festival, you’ll enjoy a Free to Attend Full Day of Music, Food and Fun and part of that is learning about the important role Honeybees play in our life.

During each Honeybee Festival, honeybee experts and beekeepers bring awareness and educate our Festival goers at the Honeybee Festival Education exhibits and demonstrations learning area.

Every aspect of the honeybee can “BEE” discussed during the Honeybee Festival Education exhibits and demonstrations. Subjects like sustainable beekeeping, the role of the honeybee, how to rear Queen Bees, what effects bees and bee colonies and how to control it, plus so much more.

When you visit the Honeybee Festival, “BEE” sure to stop by the Education exhibits and learn the many fascinating aspects of the honeybee.

-Entertainment

When the Honeybee Festival Brings Out the Best from our Local and Regional Music and Entertainment Scene!

The Honeybee Festival is a Full Day of Fun, Food and Music!

When our Festival goers visit the Honeybee Festival, we want to bring a diverse array of talents onto the team to entertain the massive crowd.

We are looking to book musical acts, groups, street performers and magicians. The more diverse the better!

We are always looking to have a unique array of genres including rock, country, soul, jazz, gospel, bluegrass, hip-hop, etc.

If you are looking to get some exposure in front of a wonderful crowd at a Family Friendly event, then the Honeybee Festival would “BEE” the perfect opportunity.

The musical groups would “BEE” performing on one of the 3 Festival Stages. The Festival Stages are designed for groups and bands for a specific performance day and time.

Street performers consist of musicians, stilt-walkers, jugglers, roaming entertainment, magicians, and vaudevillians suitable for performance at an outdoor art festival and for quality of entertainment. Street Performers must have a minimal set-up that will not impede fire lanes at intersections or at ends of streets.

“BEE” sure to keep an eye out for Entertainment applications as we draw closer to the next Honeybee Festival which is held every June in the City of LaFayette.

-Honey Show Competition

It’s time to let your artistic flare show with the Honey Show Competition!

The Honeybee Festival Honey Show Competition is open to any festival attendee who wishes to enter one or more exhibits.

So, if you have a knack for Honey and want to compete for cash prizes, “BEE” sure to take part in the next Honey Show Competition at the Honeybee Festival.

Entries can range from extracted Honey, black jar Honey, chunk comp Honey, beeswax bars and/or candles.
