Tartan Day was originally conceived as a day to celebrate Scotland's cultural and historic contributions to the world. We invite all who have embraced the Tartan to join us in celebrating family, community, nation, heritage, and the human need for connection.
Many Coloradans of Scottish, Irish, and other Celtic backgrounds contributed to the growth, prosperity, and cultural richness of Colorado. The Colorado tartan is comprised of a pattern and colors symbolic of Colorado's splendor and history. The beauty of the clear Colorado skies is represented by blue, the pine and spruce that grace the mountains are represented by the cool green of the tartan.
