Count Dracula may not live full-time in Transylvania County, but we’re pretty sure he clears his schedule every year for Heart of Brevard’s Halloweenfest! Held annually on the Saturday before Halloween in downtown Brevard, this fangtastic celebration is packed with FREE family-friendly fun. Enjoy bounce houses, our beloved costume competition and parade, the Magic Book Bus, a hula hoop dance party, and a vibrant mix of craft, retail, and food vendors.
Explore downtown through our Spooky Stroll Open House and trick-or-treat at participating businesses. New this year—building on the momentum of last year’s community concert—we’re keeping the party going after dark with live music from Shadowgrass on the main stage, plus beer, wine, and festive vibes at this free community event.
Don’t miss this wickedly wonderful celebration in the heart of downtown Brevard on October 25th!
Contest Information
Halloween Costume Competition and Parade
Brevard’s Halloweenfest Costume Contest:
1. Preregistration is required to participate.
2. Complete and submit the entry form by NOON on October 24th.
3. Arrive at the Main Stage (E. Main Street) at 11am on October 25th to check-in. You’ll then get to strut your stuff before the judges before taking a loop around the festival area in a fun parade.
Competition Categories:
-- Best Character (Characters from TV Shows, Movies, Books, Comics, etc.)
-- Best Family/Group (2 or More People)
-- Best DIY Costume
-- Best Monster (Vampires, Mummies, Witches, etc.)
-- Best in Show
Competition Prizes
A 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winner will be selected in each category. One contestant will be tapped as Best in Show and will win a fangtastic prize!

Pet Parade and Costume Contest

Costume Contest Entry Form:
-- Sign up to participate by October 24th at noon.
-- Create an awesome costume for your furry (or not so furry) friend. Human costumes are encouraged too!
-- Meet up location is current to be determined.
-- Judging begins promptly at 2pm, but we’d suggest getting there a little earlier if you aren’t participating in the parade. Pets aren’t always as patient as us humans, and the judging may start a few minutes early.
-- The parade will begin promptly after the judging.
